Decorating With Crochet

I've been busy crocheting and it is something I really enjoy. I love to work on my doily everywhere specially while my little boy is playing in the park--it's me time.
I found this basket with flowers in an old book and I decided to  make a pillow for my wing chair and attach the basket and flower to it.

These are photos of the doilys I have made. It is called Dahlia Doily but I made changes to the pattern.
If you are interested in making doilys, I found a great place where you can find many doily patterns http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/doilies.php
I designed this doily; but I didn't take notes in the process.

This doily is really simple. I made it while my little boy was playing.
I found the idea for this doily in the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Needlework book. Originally it was an Irish Crochet pillow top but I made a doily instead.
My sweet grandmother sent these beautiful patterns to me. I had fun making them. This one is called Curtain Call, I am going to post the pattern of this doily soon.

This doily is called Praline Pinwheel.

This doily is called Crystal Fan; my favorite.
I designed this one; but I didn't  take notes while I was making it.

  1. Absolutely lovely! I would spend many a happy afternoon watching my grandmother crochet doilies, and it always amazed me how she could turn simple thread into such intricate pieces of art. Unfortunately, I never learned more than the simple chain stitch. Your work is truly beautiful.

  3. That pillow is so beautiful! What a great idea! I am going to pin it!
I also love to take my kid to a playground with friends, take my beach chair and crochet. But he is growing so fast! I think playgrounds are in the past now.

  5. I love your work. It's beautiful. I found your blog because I was searching for a pattern for a crocheted basket. I want to recreate something that I believe was made by my grandmother. She died before I was born, but she did needlework and crocheted. When my grandfather died I was going through his things and found an old yellow towel with a basket appliqued on it and flowers scattered on the basket. I feel sure my grandmother made it. It's starting to fall apart and I want to make a copy. I couldn't believe it when I saw your basket and flowers because that's the exact pattern on the towel. Could you please let me know what book you found it in? I want to locate that book so I can make the basket.
